Divorce When Assets Are Not in Your Name

We recently assisted a client who was facing the difficult decision of separating from their partner, who also happened to be the primary financial provider for their family. Our client had contributed to the family unit in many ways, including through providing some of their own personal savings in order to acquire family property, but did not have any assets to their name.

We meticulously gathered evidence of their individual contributions to the acquisition and maintenance of the property, aiming to establish a clear picture of their financial standing. We then skillfully negotiated with the spouse's legal team, advocating for a fair and equitable division of assets based on the principles of contribution and equity. We also explored all available legal avenues to protect their assets, including arguments based on the Matrimonial Property Act.

Through our diligent efforts and strategic negotiation, we were able to achieve a favorable settlement for our client, minimizing the potential loss of their property. We helped them navigate a challenging divorce with confidence, securing their financial future and providing them with the peace of mind they needed to move forward.
